Engine Changes - Earlier Forecasts
raspadmin on Sunday 10 April 2011 - 08:15:44 |
With the clocks going forward, the daily forecasts are generally not completed until 10:30BST.

To provide something closer to a 09:00 full week ahead, a second forecast engine has been added and is undergoing live testing. This produces half of the daily runs (UK12, UK12+2, UK12+4 and UK12+6) with the other engine the UK5, UK12+3 and UK12+5 forecasts.

The up shot is that a data set for the morning run is finished before 09:00BST. Both engines then continue the other forecasts to provide coverage in case there is a failure of the other.

The afternoon runs are also split by engine to again provide parallel forecasts.

This is work in progress, so feedback welcome.
